Barry Davies
Director
My musical journey started at the young age of 10. I can remember looking through my nans kay's catalogue at all the disco equipment fall decks and lights. I was memorised by it all and my dream was to become a dj with my own mobile disco.
At the age of 17 I had started to collect different equipment, and at 18 was dj-ing in pubs and clubs in my local town of Mkt Drayton in Shropshire. I then started going further afield once i had passed my driving test. Over the years I have entertained all over the UK, worked in many hotels doing weddings, holiday resorts, private parties etc.
In 2011 I got involved in Radio and have worked on many stations. Today at the grand old age of 57 I am joint owner of Clear Crystal Radio co uk, where I present live shows especially on a Wednesday with the Decades show, and also my famous 50s&60s Sunday show each week from 7pm, it would be great to have your company.

Technical Director
My interest in electronics and radios started at the age of nine. I caught the family radio bug from my dad who repaired TV’s and radios as a hobby this was when I started to build crystal sets etc!
I had an electronic project kit it had many projects including a low power transmitter circuit. This started my interest into broadcasting. In 1976 I sat and passed the Radio amateurs exam, I enjoyed making modifying and repairing all kinds of radio transmitters and receivers.
On leaving collage I went to work for the telecoms section of the local electricity company maintaining and repairing their large VHF UHF mobile radio systems. Around the early 80s I helped with a station broadcasting from a massive fir tree! Enough said!
My interest in internet started about 2013 when I met Barry Davies. Soon after great mates we joined forces. Barry’s music and presenting skills and my tech knowledge were a great combination.
True gold radio was born in 2013. Since then, we have had a number of stations. I am really looking forward to working with Barry and the team on Clear Crystal radio “The name of my first radio receiver". I co own Clear Crystal radio with Barry, and will be the main tech guy, although also doing a couple of radio shows myself. Look forward to you listening to the 70s and 80s show in the week and the country show on Sundays.
Mari Buckley
I have been interested in television and radio since early childhood in the 1960s. I remember listening to my local BBC and commercial stations in Manchester in the early 70s and thinking, now that is what I would like to do one day!
However, life and work got in the way and I ended up working in the Prison Service, where I took every opportunity to grab the mic and make the announcements on the radio throughout the prison, a job which everybody else hated and avoided - but I loved.
My interest in music continued throughout my life and when I was eventually able to spare the time I joined Chorley Hospital Radio in Lancashire, where I present several shows a week and remain to this day.
I joined Pure Gold UK, now Clear Crystal Radio, and I have worked on several other stations over the years.
Looking back to the days when I used to ring or write in to my local stations - I always remember the thrill of hearing my name read out on the radio, and the best part of it all for me is that I am now in a position to do this for our listeners.
I present live and fully interactive shows here on Clear Crystal Radio with the Daytime Request Show at 11 o'clock on Thursday and Friday mornings. No script, no preparation, all spontaneous and off the cuff. Who knows what's going to happen? Please join me and find out!
Paul (Smiffy) Smith
Hi Smiffy, here.
Had my 1st set of decks at the age of 13 where I used to play in my bedroom pretending to be Tony Blackburn.
In 1977 I invested in a set of disco equipment and went on the road working the pubs and clubs around Worcestershire.
In the 80’s I started on Hospital radio and that’s when I got the radio bug.
In 2001 I joined Classic Gold Radio starting off on Sunday night’s and in 2005 was given the prestige Breakfast show until October 2008 when the station sadly closed down.
In 2023 I got back into radio via the Internet and have since been with 4 other Internet Radio Stations.
During my broadcasting years I’ve had the pleasure of working with Emperor Rosko, Steve Wright, Roy Wood, Alvin Stardust and Status Quo just to mention a few.
My musical interests range from the 50’s to the present day.
Hope you enjoy my morning Show.
